Google is closing a whole bunch of its services, including iGoogle and Google Video. Via The Next Web:
…most of these tools have been replaced by other products, or by extensions created and published in the Chrome Web Store. Still though, it’s interesting to reflect on how far the company has come on showing us news, publishing items to a feed and displaying videos.
Google is a funny company. At times they seem focused, and at times it’s last word you’d use to describe them. How else do you explain keeping Google Video open for almost six years after buying YouTube?
With Larry Page as CEO, Google is proving to be more willing to axe underused and bad products, something that was out of control in the past. Going forward, expect everything the company does to be centered around mobile and the cloud.
